UK Ravidas Sect Attempts to Create Hate Crimes Amongst Sikhs

LONDON, UK (KP)—Traditionally people belonging to the “Guru Ravidas Community” were originally firm followers and members of the Sikh Panth. Eventually anti- Sikh elements outside and within Sikh Gurdwaras try to single these people from the Sikh panth through the Hindu driven caste system. Their intentions were to take these people farther from the Sikh fold or closer to Hinduvata. According to such mischievous characters a casteless Sikhi was a threat to Hindu nationalism. (more…)

Eye Witness
Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti’s (former Akal Takht jathedar) personal account from the tragic days of the
June of 1984

On June 4, 1984 I got up at 3 a.m. Exactly at 4 a.m., I along with my wife Harbhajan Kaur, reached Sri Harmandir Sahib for my duty as Ardasia Singh. Dr. Amrik Singh Huzuri Ragi’s jatha was performing kirtan of Sri Asa Ji Di Var. At 4:30 when the Palki Sahib arrived from Sri Akal Takht Sahib (Kotha Sahib), the hukumnama was taken.

Around 4:45 a.m., when kirtan of Sri Asa Ji Di Var was on, a cannon ball struck into the Sindhi Dharamshala. This Dharamshala was towards the north of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and was between the Takht Sahib and the Tharra Sahib. (This dharamshala was later on demolished.) The cannon ball seemed to have come from the Jallianwala Bagh side. Three or four minutes after that, massive indiscriminate firing started which went on till 8:30 p.m. (more…)

Malaysian Gurdwaras Council: Press Statement on Court of Appeal decision on Saravanan v. Subashini

One Federal Court decision on point is TAN SUNG MOOI (F) v. TOO MIEW KIM (1994) 3 CLJ 708 where 5 Federal Judges unanimously held:

“It would result in grave injustice to Non-Muslim spouses and children whose only remedy would be in the Civil Courts if the High Court no longer has jurisdiction, since the Syariah Courts do not have jurisdiction over non-muslims”. (more…)

Freedom Denied! Are We Happy Now: The Crushing of Sri Lanka’s Tamils

Mike Cowie

“Terrorism doesn’t just blow up buildings; it blasts every other issue off the political map. The spectre of terrorism – real and exaggerated – has become a shield of impunity, protecting governments around the world from scrutiny for their human rights abuses”

      – Naomi Klein

“If you listen to the politicians, you might think we are all terrorists”

      – Loesje (International – originally Dutch – free speech organization)

“Our position is clear and frank… We consider the military occupation of our land a terrorist act”

      – Yasser Arafat

So, with the war in Sri Lanka now over and the Tamils having been crushed and brought to their knees, I’d like to ask just one question: Are we happy now? With the Tamils’ decades-long struggle for self-determination quashed and their dreams of an independent homeland shattered, are we fully satisfied? Should we give ourselves a pat on the back?

Because there’s no denying that this result is largely due to us here in the freedom-loving West. Specifically, I’m referring to how the governments of Canada, America, Australia and the European Union all decided to take sides in this civil war – this brutal ethnic civil war. (more…)

Vienna Incident: A Deep Rooted RSS and GOI Controversy?

Friday 29th of May 2009

Panthic Weekly News Bureau

This past week saw violent incidents take place in two different parts of the world—the shooting at a Vienna based Bhagat Ravidas Temple and the aftermath riots and protests that took place throughout Punjab. Both incidents have been greatly highlighted by the media—international, national and local. From TV news to radio talk shows and newspapers, the coverage of the incident has however only led to more dismay and incorrect portrayals of the Sikhs, thanks to biased reporting and distorted facts.

The distorting of facts has surprised many, as credible and well-recognized media organizations, including the BBC, CNN, Wall Street Journal and New York Times, covered the incident without proper research. The internal dispute of the Ravidas Community was publicized as a clash within the Sikh Community and the Ravidasia Preachers were labeled as Sikh Gurus. In reality, the attacks had nothing to do with the Sikh religion. (more…)

Malaysian Sikh family in new ‘bodysnatching’ case

31 May 2009

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — A Malaysian Sikh family is demanding to be given the remains of their relative who Islamic authorities say had converted to Islam, in the latest “body snatching” case to hit the country.

The tussles have raised allegations that the country of 27 million people is being “Islamised” and that the rights of the ethnic Chinese and Indian minorities are being eroded.

741 days later, the Good Doctor is free, but BJP CM still crows
Priyaleen K Renuka & Gian Inder Singh

741 days in jail that Dr Binayak Sen spent could have been a blot on the face of an India that was churlishly jumping about, waving its ink-stained fingersto denote itself as the world’s biggest democracy, but Chattisgarh’s BJP chief minister delivered a bigger slap to India’s reputation. (more…)
